New year, new challenges!  Budget impacts class size and student choices.

Budget Impacts

It is so exciting to welcome you all back to another school year at Woodcreek High School!  Despite all the budget constraints and challenges Woodcreek High School still provides a world class education for our community.  Our recent performance data shows our students improving in most academic areas for 3 or more consecutive years.  For the 2009 – 2010 school year eight of thirteen California Content Standards Tests (STAR) areas improved in overall student proficiency and eleven of thirteen areas decreased the number of students scoring below basic.  Our Advanced Placement test scores also improved last year with the percentage of students passing the exams increasing by 10 percent – from 56 to 66 percent.  We anticipate another outstanding academic year.

In regards to the budget we did not go unscathed.  Woodcreek High School lost three teachers due to staffing reductions.  Your students will experience larger class sizes and it will be more difficult to change classes as there is literally nowhere to move students.  We appreciate your patience and understanding during these tough economic times and look forward to better times.  As is the norm our staff will strive to provide the best educational experience where learning at high levels is the target.  In spite of budget and staffing reductions the past three years Woodcreek staff has continued to improve students’ academic achievement.  It is with the support of parents and community that our staff and students are able to accomplish so much.  Thank you for your continued support.
